Kaibolo privacy policy
Last updated 25 August 2026. This policy covers the Kaibolo mobile app on iOS and Android.
The short version. Everything happens on your phone. The words you speak, the photos you take and the translations you get are processed on the device itself and are not sent to us or to anyone else. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers, and nothing about you is ever sold.
Accounts
Kaibolo has no accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to, and we hold no record that you use the app.
What we collect, and what we don't
| Data | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| What you say into the microphone | Turned into text by your phone’s own speech recognition and translated on the device. We never receive it and it is not stored after the translation is shown. |
| Photos you translate | Read on the device to extract the text, then discarded. The photo is never uploaded and no copy is kept by the app. |
| Text shared into the app | Translated on the device and discarded. Never uploaded. |
| Your chosen voice and reading speed | Saved on your device only, so the app sounds the same next time. Nothing else is stored. |
| Advertising identifiers | Not collected. There are no ads and no ad SDKs in the app. |
| Analytics or usage tracking | Not collected. There is no analytics SDK in the app. |
| Location | Not collected. |
| Contacts | Not collected. |
Who else touches your data
| Service | What it receives |
|---|---|
| Google ML Kit (on-device) | Translation and text recognition run inside the app using Google’s on-device models. The one-time language pack download is the only network request; the text you translate never leaves your phone. |
| Your phone’s speech recognition | Speech is converted to text by Apple or Google’s system service, which on some phones and languages may process audio on their servers under their own privacy policy. Kaibolo itself neither receives nor stores that audio. |
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Only while you have pressed the microphone button. The app does not listen at any other time. |
| Speech recognition | To turn what you say into text so it can be translated. |
| Camera | Only when you tap the photo button, to photograph a document you want translated. |
| Photos | Only the single image you choose is handed to the app by the system picker. Kaibolo has no access to the rest of your library. |
How long we keep things
Data on your device stays until you delete it or remove the app. There is no server side to this — we hold nothing about you, so there is nothing for us to keep or to purge.
Deleting your data
Translations are not saved. Closing the app clears what was on screen, and the app holds no history to delete.
There is no account to delete. Removing the app from your phone removes everything Kaibolo has stored, which is only your chosen voice and speed.
Your rights
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| Get a copy of your data | Ask us and we will send you everything we hold that is linked to you. |
| Correct it | If something we store about you is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. |
| Delete it | Use the in-app delete, or ask us and we will erase it. |
| Complain | If you are in the UK or EU you can complain to your local data protection authority. |
To exercise any of these, email support@gary-labs.com. We reply within 30 days.
Children
Kaibolo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
