KaiCalory privacy policy
Last updated 25 August 2026. This policy covers the KaiCalory mobile app on iOS and Android.
The short version. Everything you log — foods, portions, recipes, weights and fasting history — is stored in a database on your device and nowhere else. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers, and nothing about you is ever sold.
Accounts
KaiCalory has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of ours. We could not build a profile of you if we wanted to, because your log never leaves your phone.
What we collect, and what we don't

| Apple Health data (weight, water, calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat) | Only if you connect Apple Health in Profile → Apple Health. KaiCalory reads it onto your device and merges it into your local log. It is read-only — KaiCalory never writes to Health — and health data is never uploaded, never shared with anyone, and never used for advertising. |

Who else touches your data

| USDA FoodData Central | A public US government nutrition database. KaiCalory no longer contacts it while you search — its data is built into the food database on your phone instead, so it receives nothing about you at all. |
| Open Food Facts | A public, non-profit food database. Receives the food name or barcode you search for, nothing else. |
| A recipe site you choose | Only if you use Import from a link. KaiCalory fetches the single page you paste, reads the ingredient list the site publishes for search engines, and keeps only that list in your own recipe. No cookies or identifiers are sent, nothing about you is shared with the site, and no page is fetched unless you paste it and tap import. |
| Apple or Google speech recognition | Only if you use voice logging. Your phone converts speech to text on the device wherever it supports that. On phones or languages where it cannot, the system service processes the audio under its own privacy policy — KaiCalory tells you before that happens and lets you decline. KaiCalory never records, stores or uploads audio itself. |
Permissions the app asks for

KaiCalory only ever reads the images you pick — it never writes to your library, and location data is stripped from anything it copies. Progress photos are stored inside the app on your device and are never uploaded. |
| Microphone and speech recognition | To let you log a meal by saying it instead of typing. The microphone is on only while you are recording. Speech is turned into text on your device wherever your phone supports it; where it cannot, KaiCalory tells you before anything is sent and lets you decline. No audio is ever recorded, stored or uploaded by KaiCalory. |
| Apple Health | To read the weight, water and nutrition you already have in Health, if you choose to connect it. Read-only, and everything it reads stays on your device. |

How long we keep things
Data on your device stays until you delete it or remove the app. There is no server side to this — we hold nothing about you, so there is nothing for us to keep or to purge.
Deleting your data
Delete any entry from the screen it appears on. To erase everything, delete the app — because all data is on-device, removing the app permanently removes your entire log.
There is no account to delete. We hold no data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to erase on your behalf.
Your rights

Children
KaiCalory is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
